Dear Family Member:

This week we will be focusing on how we can learn from different cultures. We will also explore the differences among cultures and how they interact in the United States.

Here are some activities that you can do with your child to help reinforce the skills we’ll be practicing.

Word Workout

  • Words to Know: cause and effect In this activity, you and your child will use the list words to make up a story about how one event set off a chain of other events.
  • Spelling/Phonics: open syllables You will call out the words, and your child will write as many as possible in two minutes. Then you will check for errors. You will continue with the list for another two minutes, adding any words that your child misspelled.
Comprehension: theme

Help your child think about the themes of holidays and how those themes might be reflected in party decorations.
